What is a Naturopath?

Naturopaths use food as medicine, life coaching and stress management strategies, herbal medicine and nutritional supplements to treat a wide variety of health issues.

Our in-house naturopath, Elysia Humphries, has passion for combining conventional medical approaches, medical research and natural medicine to use a “best of both worlds” approach to improving your health.

She believes that education is the key to good health and long-term positive change. She will spend time with you, explaining the possible causes behind your symptoms and give you an easy to follow plan to improve your health.

Endometriosis, Adenomyosis & Period Pain

Severe period pain can be greatly improved with diet, herbs and nutrients that reduce the inflammatory drivers of pelvic and period pain. Elysia has helped many women with endometriosis and adenomyosis manage their pain and overcome infertility.

Preconception & Fertility Care

The four-month window before you try to conceive is a wonderful time to improve your health, reduce environmental toxins, eat a nutrient-rich diet and take antioxidants to assist your body in achieving a healthy pregnancy. Elysia will provide you with a preconception plan and education around fertility tracking.

For couples struggling to conceive, Elysia has worked with IVF specialists and can recommend herbs, nutrients and lifestyle strategies to improve egg and sperm quality. She has a passion for assisting people experiencing recurrent miscarriage.

Inclusive — solo women using donor sperm, egg donor, same sex couples and trans people are all welcome and celebrated.

Postnatal Depletion

PCOS

Naturopathy has so many options for PCOS – losing weight if needed, helping blood sugar, regulating the cycle and assisting fertility. Herbs are a powerful way to bring the hormones back into balance, especially after years on the pill.

PMS & PMDD

Elysia loves helping women with symptoms that flare in the premenstrual window. Many women don’t feel themselves for two weeks a month. Identifying food intolerances, herbs and nutrients can eliminate sensitivity to hormonal swings in the luteal phase of your cycle.

Menopause

Hot flushes, sweats, mood change, libido and sleep issues response well to herbal and nutritional support strategies.

IBS & Gut Health

A basic principle of naturopathy is that the gut is the seat of all health and disease and recent research into the gut microbiome and its effect on mental health, immunity and inflammatory disorders is proving this concept. Elysia will help you identify your food triggers and have a happy gut again.

Fatigue & Burnout

Many women are so used to being everything to everyone and burn the candle at both ends. Then we burn out. Mood and energy – gone. Elysia has experienced this herself and has lots of practical, gentle strategies to help you build your energy and resilience and is used to working with sensitive and high-achieving women.

Whole foods nutrition

Help identifying food intolerances, gluten free, dairy free, FODMAPs – which diet is right for you? Elysia has 22 years of practical nutrition experience and started out working in whole foods stores. You’ll receive recipes and information and finding out which diet best suits your needs.

Mental Health

Naturopathy has lots of strategies to assist in stress, anxiety and depression. Getting your diet to work for you is essential, as blood sugar fluctuations, not enough protein or poor gut health can all worsen mental health issues. Herbs and nutrients can help balance brain chemistry and work alongside any medication you take.

Adolescents

Irregular periods, anxiety, acne and nutrition support. Elysia loves helping young women learn about their bodies and find natural alternatives.
